1. The quality or state of being conscious or aware of something.
2. A mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
I think it’s important to take time out of your day to sit and reflect. Towards your life. Looking towards your manifestations. How you treat your friends, family and yourself. How you look at the world. Today I’m going to discuss two books with you that (you could say) changed my life for better. They discuss the act of mindfulness and better approaches to living your life day by day.
1. Silence by Thich Nhat Hanh:
This book was exceptional! I loved the way Hanh wrote. It was even better when read aloud. Silence caused me to dream towards going on a retreat for myself to focus on mindfulness within breathing, meditation and yoga. Such a beautiful book! One of my favourites!
Synopsis: “The Zen master and one of the world’s most beloved teachers returns with a concise, practical guide to understanding and developing our most powerful inner resource—silence—to help us find happiness, purpose, and peace… Silence shows us how to find and maintain our equanimity amid the barrage of noise. Thich Nhat Hanh guides us on a path to cultivate calm even in the most chaotic places. This gift of silence doesn’t require hours upon hours of silent meditation or an existing practice of any kind. Through careful breathing and mindfulness techniques he teaches us how to become truly present in the moment, to recognize the beauty surrounding us, and to find harmony. With mindfulness comes stillness—and the silence we need to come back to ourselves and discover who we are and what we truly want, the keys to happiness and well-being.”
My Rating: 5/5 stars *****
2. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra:
I absolutely loved how Deepak Chopra structured this book by allowing us to reflect at the end of each chapter and how he went into great detail towards the seven laws he abides by. Such a beautiful book! I especially loved the ending!
Synopsis: “This is a book you will cherish for a lifetime, for within is pages are the secrets of making all your dreams come true. Based on natural laws that govern all of creation, this book shatters the myth that success is the result of hard work, exacting plans, or driving ambition. Instead, Deepak Chopra offers a life-altering perspective on the attainment of success: When we understand our true nature and learn to live in harmony with natural law, a sense of well-being, good health, fulfilling relationships, and material abundance spring forth easily and effortlessly.”
My Rating: 4.5/5 stars *****
